The Silver Chords
Spindrift’s own organist-vox Sasha Vallely has alchemized a dynasty from the psychedelic cauldron of rock n’ roll. THE SILVER CHORDS are an ever-evolving cast of pedigree musicians interpreting Vallely’s songs, and heeding her bewitching incantations.

Appearing at THE SILVER CHORDS gatherings, are said to be or have been involved with THE BLACK ANGELS, ROBBY KRIEGER, SPINDRIFT, SOCIAL DISTORTION, GONG, DEAD MEADOW, THE ENTRANCE BAND, THE MORLOCKS, CAT POWER, PSYCHIC TV, PINK MOUNTAINTOPS, SKY PARADE, THE MEEK, YAHOWHA 13, and even the LA PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA.

Speculation mounts as to whether this a band, or a cult? How many psychedelic apostles will christen the next performance? And which ones? Are THE SILVER CHORDS in league with the darkness or the light? …Both? Vallely’s shadowy ensemble will soon be revealed.

Mother Falcon
Mother Falcon is led by Nick Gregg, who directs an ever-shifting flock of classical musicians in a soundscape of strings, brass, and drums with a modern sensibility. The membership of Mother Falcon is quite large. Mother Falcon can play with anywhere between 10-20+ members.

Diamond Center
Upon forming in 2007, The Diamond Center at its core has always been Kyle Harris and Brandi Price. After travels and homesteads in Athens, Georgia and Lubbock, Texas, their creative migratory patterns led them to Richmond, Virginia. The release of My Only Companion as well as multiple cross-country tours has only solidified the group’s psychedelic aesthetic and the adoring legions of fans spread across state lines. Imagine a time when Neko Case may have fronted an outfit like the Velvet Underground.

The Silent Comedy
Since 1996, brothers Jeremiah and Joshua Zimmerman have been fighting an uphill battle to pursue music. That year, their preacher father sold all of their possessions and launched the family on a worldwide adventure that included travels through Asia, Russia, the Middle East, Europe, and the entirety of the United States. From playing folk instruments in the foothills of the Himalayas, to drawing crowds around pianos at Spanish shopping malls, the boys kept their musical outlet alive by any means possible. In keeping with their DIY tradition, the band self-produced their follow up LP, Common Faults, in 2010. The resulting buzz from sold-out pressings of both records, and sold-out shows around California, have resulted in sharing the bill with such diverse performers as Mumford and Sons, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Razorlight, Switchfoot, The Black Keys, Common, MGMT, Cold War Kids, Flogging Molly, The Whigs, Delta Spirit, and more.

Les Rav
“Riveting female fronted and piano driven, quirky chamber-pop group featuring dark, yet inspirational folk music that explores the central nervous system, the human heart and other curiosities. Les RAV, stage name for dazzling songstress and Berklee College of Music alum Lauren Bruno, and her creative collective, will leave you with an abundant sense of peace.”

Agent Ribbons
Since 2007, Agent Ribbons has toured with national acts Camera Obscura, Cake, Detroit Cobras, Wanda Jackson, and Portugal the Man to name a few. Agent Ribbons is scheduled to release their forthcoming sophomore album ‘Chateau Crone’ this fall on Oakland-based Antenna Farm Records.

Seryn

ARTheism is the live “dance-imation” performance art of Topher Sipes and Samantha Beasley.

Blurring the lines between performance, animation, conceptual, theatre, visionary and fine art, ARTheism occurs when Sam and Topher combine their experience and love for dance, drawing, observation and sensation.

Live, hand-drawn animation is projected directly onto a dancing body providing an optical interplay between improvisation and choreography set to music.

Midday Veil | ‘Moon Temple’ Video

Seattle’s Midday Veil have just released this trance-inducing video for the track Moon Temple, an alternately hypnotic and cathartic journey from last year’s improvised EP Subterranean Ritual II, currently available as a limited edition cassette from Translinguistic Other. Source footage for the video was generated by band members Timm Mason and Emily Pothast during a residency at Experimental Television Center in upstate New York and edited by Emily.

The band just finished mixing their second studio album The Current, produced by Northwest luminary Randall Dunn, and are heading to Texas in March for a few SXSW dates including showcases hosted by Austin Psych Fest and Redefine Magazine. Full tour dates below.

THE LINEUP

Silver Apples
Formed in 1967 as an electronic rock duo featuring Dan Taylor on drums and Simeon on a homemade synthesizer consisting of 12 oscillators and an assortment of sound filters, telegraph keys, radio parts, lab gear and a variety of second hand electronic junk, the band quickly gained a reputation as New York’s leading underground musical expression.

The first full-length album was released in 1968 on KAPP Records. The self titled album rode the Billboard Magazine Top 100 list for 10 weeks.The first cut on this album, Oscillations, was released as a single, and made the Top Ten list in numerous cities. One music critic wrote, “What’s so amazing is that they make absolutely mind shattering music with all this junky equipment.”

The second full length album was released in 1969, titled CONTACT. A national tour was launched by the band’s recording popularity. A third album was recorded in 1970, but not released when KAPP folded.Without a record label the band disbanded, and, except for an occasional bootleg release, was not heard from again until 1994, when a German label named TRC, without license, re-released the first two albums in a double CD version, complete with poster. Since then numerous artists around the world have released covers, tributes and samplings of Silver Apples material.

In 1996, Simeon re-activated Silver Apples, recording and performing with many musician friends and admirers. Some of the projects included a release of a 7″ vinyl on Enraptured Records of London which included on the A side FRACTAL FLOW, the first new song by Silver Apples in 26 years! It has since sold out through three pressings.

January 19, 1997 marked the re-emergence of Silver Apples as a live performance band. Before a celeb-packed audience at the Knitting Factory, this concert was hailed by the press as being better than anyone dreamed possible.

A 16,000 mile national tour was booked for that Spring, a 6-week tour of Europe started in the Summer and in the Fall the band played a tour of Japan. In all, Silver Apples played over 100 concerts in 1997 and 1998.

In January, 2000, Simeon performed at the Knitting Factory/Whitney Museum of American Art’s New York Festival of Electronic Music to a packed house. “WOW!” said one music critic. Silver Apples rides again!

On March 10, 2005, original drummer, Danny Taylor, passed away of a heart attack in Kingston, New York. He was 56 years old.

Working as a solo performer, with Danny’s drum sounds recreated by electronic means, Simeon has continued the Silver Apples live concerts with performances at 2 ATP Festivals, one in England and one in Australia, the Electric Picnic Festival in Ireland, the Aula Cultura CAM Festival in Spain, the Netmage Festival in Italy, the Aurora Festival in Houston and concerts throughout Europe, America and Japan.

Currently Simeon is still recording and performing as a solo.

Xander Harris
Xander Harris began in the far reaches of 2009. A child left behind on the set of “Prince of Darkness”, Xander crawled from the backlot wreckage with a sequencer in one hand and a synth in the other ready to take over the dark dance floor. He trekked across the barren landscape of the southwest and decided to place his stasis machine in the warm goo-goo muck of Austin, TX. There, Xander learned of the powers of Buffy, Chris Carter, Roland, Alesis, Korg, and on the 8th and 1/4 day, he called it good.

BRANES
BRANES is an analog synth band that formed in Portland, Oregon, United States. Current band members consist of Susan Subtract and Ivy Slime. A byproduct of hermit life in the batcave and a mild case of Tourette’s syndrome for your listening pleasure.
